STREET SCHOLARS

Street Scholars is a Leadership and Outpatient Drug Treatment Program. In Street Scholars, not only do you learn about substance abuse, you also learn about environmental factors issues that may cause substance abuse in communities of color and other marginalized communities. Youth in this program are challenged to increase their awareness on substance abuse and social justice issues in an effort to help them make an educated decision about staying sober.

HOW IT WORKS

When a youth is assessed by our counselors, he/she is placed accordingly into the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) level that fits the youth's needs. WAPI provides early intervention, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, diversion and alcohol & drug information school (ADIS) classes.

All youth are expected to complete our common care path, which includes group and individual sessions, therapeutic recreation (drug free activities and alternatives such as AA/NA meetings) and an aftercare phase. Street Scholars also uses the Seven Challenges program in conjunction with Street Scholars. To find out more about the Seven Challenges, click here
